Ari's Choice is writer/director Lisa D. Merrill's second short film. Building on some of her own beliefs and pulling from her experience with her father having Alzheimers, Ari's Choice was born. The film is also a heartfelt tribute to Kurt Reichert (The Last Catch) who died on Mother's Day 2006, two weeks after the film was shot. Ari's Choice was Kurt's last film.
Ari Greene doesn't believe in an afterlife. In his own words; "When we die, we go back into the Earth. It's over. We cease to exist." When he begins a friendship with a mysterious young woman in a foggy park, she helps him learn that even a stubborn old man can change his belief system. Ari comes to realize that it is indeed our choices in this life that ultimately decide our fate in the end.
